A brief tour of Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor is our new home and it's a really neat city! On our first full day in town we drove to go see where Jesse will go to school and explored a bit of the town along the way.

First impressions were good when we came across this street:

Something I love about this city is the AWESOME architecture and this really cool blend of modernistic structures with older buildings--with lots of ivy :) I think this building below is part of the med school and Jesse thinks that crazy structure in the middle there is an auditorium!

Another really cool thing about the city is that the downtown is nestled right up against the university, so right next to dorms and class buildings are awesome little restaurants and stores--like this nerdy bookstore:

And then there's campus--it's HUGE (cause there's 60,000 students so you gotta put them somewhere, right?) and everywhere you look there's that juxtaposition of gorgeous old architecture,

and super tall, more modern buildings:

And then there's random old stone benches donated by some fraternity a long time ago!

Here's an ever better example of that modern vs. older vibe--this neat modernist building

sits right next to this awesome ivy covered one!

And across the street is the gorgeous student union, looking like it's right out of a movie set or something.

Then finally, one last reason why we think we'll like this place:

A shop devoted to cookies! It's my home!

I am sad you are no longer near me but I am happy that you like your new home. I love the old architecture and ivy too!
