Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Church here has a really great playgroup they put together once a week for the kids, and this week we checked out the awesome botanical gardens near campus! 

They had an incredibly verdant indoor section, which Nikolai thought was really cool:

And I did too! 

As well as an indoor desert area with tons of really cool looking cacti! 

Outside, they had one of my favorite things EVER:  A bonsai garden!!!

Seriously, aren't bonsai trees the most adorable and magical trees ever?!

Also outside were tons of manicured flower beds and a meticulous lawn, as well as a great play area with a sandbox, where we spent a lot of our time ;)

There was also this really cool hollowed out tree trunk that I tried to convince Nikolai to go in.

He was not amused ;)

It's so fun to get out and explore our neat city and do fun things with Nikolai--and since it's part of playgroup, we don't have to go by ourselves or even think up the activity :D  Yay!!!
