A confession and some awkward family photos

Hey fellow mamas, here's some real talk: sometimes I let my baby eat pizza.

(no I don't know what Jesse's doing, don't ask!)

Sometimes we're busy, or not feeling good, or, like now, packing for The Big Move--and so we buy a cheapo pizza for dinner.  And instead of setting a double standard and not giving my baby any (read: instead of sitting there listening to him screaming because he's not eating what we're eating), we let him have some too (but come on, how cute is he up there with that pizza in his hand?!)

The other day was one of these days--so we walked to Little Caesar's and ate it outside on a lovely lawn to attempt to balance some exercise and fresh air with the junk we were about to eat.   Anyways, none of this really matters except I sat here for awhile, about to post the other pictures from that outing, debating whether I should admit I let my baby eat junk food.  (what would people think of me?!?!) But, in the interest of full disclosure and honesty, I decided to go ahead and admit it.  So there's that!

The rest of that quiet evening was awesome. Niko played alllll over the grass and he and Jesse got to have some fun time exploring together.

After a bit, we caught our reflection in the shiny door and realized we were a very colorful group!  What followed was a series of attempts at a family photo, all of which failed miserably.

Self timer, yo.  Super awkward.

And a collage of self-timer-oops-we're-standing-in-a-sunspot attempts in which we look really goofy but very happy:

Oh well! At least the pizza was yummy and the sun was shining!

what's so "wrong" or "unhealthy" about pizza? it is a very well balanced meal... grains (dough), veggies (mushrooms), fruits (tomato sauce), dairy (cheese), and meat (sausage and/or pepperoni). even babies are eating healthy when chowing on pizza!

I'm pretty sure we can't pretend that Little Caesar's is healthy, though I'm sure a homemade version could be healthy, with the right ingredients.

Pizza is my kids' favorite food and we have it at least once a week (the unhealthy kind, I mean. I'm no good at making pizza crust).

I also let them eat other junk like ice cream, which we enjoyed tonight.

If there is a mom out there who doesn't rely on pizza at least twice a month, I haven't met her yet. Walt LOVES pizza. And mac and cheese. And dinosaur chicken nuggets. What a sad childhood it would be with no pizza in it! Kudos for your honesty. :) Miss you guys!
