Oh hey, we met Brandon Mull!

Remember how we went to the Beyonder's launch party a few weeks ago but it was so packed that we didn't get to get our books signed?  Yeah, that happened.  SO after that, Brandon Mull went and did his national book tour (so famous!) but I cleverly followed him on twitter so I'd know when he showed uo back in UT--and as it turned out, he tweeted that on Tuesday he'd be at our very own public library here in Bountiful!  Obviously, we had to go, cause he showed up practically in our backyard!

So the doors opened at 6:30 and he'd begin speaking at 7...so naturally we left to get there around 6:45.  That'd be plenty of time to get in, right?

Wrong.

The auditorium filled up (with 250 people!) in the first 10 minutes, and we got there literally 1 minute after the last people got in.  We were all "nooooo!!! We can't come to TWO book signings just to not get our books signed!"  The line kept growing behind us until we heard reports that there were as many as 150 people behind us.  But then, the awesome Brandon Mull heard that so many people had come and agreed to talk to both groups--each for 20 minutes with a 10 minute Q and A, instead of just talking to the one group for 45 minutes with a longer Q and A, as he had planned.  So after taking turns wandering the library and holding our place in line (while trying to keep Nikolai sane) we finally got to go down and hear Brandon speak! I forgot to bring my camera so I didn't take any pictures of Brandon Mull, but here's a delightfully grainy picture of our patient little buddy leaning on the stage while I calm him with the offer of cheerios.

After Brandon spoke, they filed us out of the room and into a long snaking line behind the first group, who obviously got to get their books signed first.  At this point it was around 8 pm--aka Niko's bedtime.  We hadn't guessed there would be so many people there so Nikolai wasn't even in jammies or anything, and by the looks of the line we knew we'd be there a loooong time, but we hadnt come to a second signing just to go home empty handed! So Nikolai got to stay up a little past his normal bedtime and play with some fun library toys, after which we slid him into the baby backpack and Jesse dutifully walked around and around the library until he fell asleep.  After he finally crashed we stood in line for awhile longer until we finally reached the front--at a whopping 10:15 pm!  I got to tell Brandon all about how grown-ups love his books too and a few little reasons about why I think they're great, he signed our books, and we were off! It was a long wait for such a quick pay off but we were so glad to be able to tell him that we appreciated his work and to have a little bit of proof that we saw him :)

By the way guys, Brandon Mull is insanely nice so if you're ever tempted to go to one of his signings--definitely do!  And if you haven't read his books, you NEED to go check out the Fablehaven series and the Beyonders series! They're excellent!

p.s. Thanks Brandon Mull for being so nice and for staying there insanely late even though I'm sure you really wanted to go home and see your family instead!

YAY!! So glad you *finally* got to meet him, and have your books signed! That is so awesome... and I promise to someday read the Fablehaven series (which I own, but never read) - and the Beyonders series too.
